From Blackheath to Beijing! Theatre tots goes to China!

Theatre tots are delighted to put expanding – all the way to China! They have been selected as one of only two UK companies to set up in the Ibest Education Institute in Beijing. (www.i-best.org.cn)

Theatre tots director Laura Sydonie visited Beijing in May 2012 where she trained Chinese teachers in the theatre tots way. All the teachers trained were Chinese but will deliver the sessions in English and Mandarin. Laura said:

Theatre tots expanding is a dream come true. I have always sought opportunities for international links and this realises this ambition. I am very proud to have joined forces with such a dedicated and hardworking team who I believe will make a real difference to early years education across China.

The Ibest Education Institute are now set to expand across China, taking the theatre tots brand with it. Their unique curriculum brand is available for children’s centres to use. As well as securing the licence for Ibest to take Theatre tots forward across China, Laura is delighted to also become part of a joint venture with IBest which will be responsible for the full drama programme including the publishing of the Theatre tots books in Mandarin, a spin off TV show in China, bi-annual productions and international exchanges with UK teachers and students. We hope there are many more trips to China to follow!
