Laura Curnick is absolutely fab, we love her. We had an Ofsted inspector in and he said she was very charismatic and had all the children completely and totally engaged for all of the sessions. He was very impressed.

Facilitators

Hello and welcome to Theatre Tots!
I am the director and lead facilitator for Theatre Tots and proud Mum to my three boys.

I set up Theatre Tots Ltd in 2007 as I am passionate about drama for the early years age groups. The pre-school age is a wonderful time of discovery and imagination and I wanted to create sessions that would nurture and develop those things. The arrival of my first son inspired me to formalise my ideas into what is now Theatre Tots.
As well as Theatre Tots I am also a consultant for Bigfoot Arts Education. I facilitate all ages from 2 – 18 in areas such as behaviour management, creative learning, drama and music and have written several courses for them including their early years programme and their music programme. I have taught all over the UK, New York, Las Vegas, France and Australia. I am the only accredited teacher of the American Lugering Method and am currently working towards my MA in dramatherapy.
As an actress I have performed all around world including France, Australia , America , Turkey , Greece and Greece as well as London and all over the UK. Roles lead me from Georges Marvellous Medicine in Birmingham to Electra at Aspendos in Greece. From a year on a canal boat performing musicals to a year in green make up as Hazel McWitch in Rentaghost the Musical. And everything in between!
I look forward to see you in class soon!

Hi, my name’s Kate! I grew up in the Cotswold countryside, just outside of Bristol, but have been living and working in London for over 3 years now.

I studied Drama at Exeter University, focussing particularly on Theatre in Education and Dance and Choreography. Whilst studying I participated in the Student Associates Scheme, specialising in Early Years Foundation Stages. The course gave me a great insight into the developmental learning of this age group which I found hugely beneficial. After graduating from Exeter I spent four months volunteering in a Peruvian orphanage working with 0-12 year olds. As well as the daily care of the children I helped teach them basic English through Drama and Music which they loved!

I have been lucky enough to work as a Drama Facilitator for the past eight years for companies including; Putney Arts Theatre, Big Foot Arts Education, Stagecoach, Gymboree, Ruth Osborne's School of Dancing, and The Kathryn Hurley Dance Academy. As well as facilitating I love directing and creating visual theatre. I’m currently learning lots about Puppetry! I also have extensive experience with SEN children through working for SENSE and running regular workshops for a specialist group in Bristol.

For me, the best thing about doing Drama with children is that it can stimulate their imaginations in a fun and natural way, to develop their learning no matter what age, background, or ability. I am passionate about the role that creative learning can have in a child's life and am always inspired by their boundless imagination and ideas.
My (secret) future ambition is to be the first person to direct a show on Mars (probably on rollerskates) with a cast of Aliens... I can dream, right?!

Laura trained as an actress at The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts and since leaving has appeared in everything from Pantomimes to Restoration comedy. As well as acting and singing Laura is also script writer. She specialises in creating comedy characters which she performs in both live and recorded work. As a drama specialist Laura has created her own programme of work which she teaches to teachers in primary schools, each project is designed to support the national curriculum and help children access it in a creative way, whilst improving the children’s speech and language skills. Laura also runs her own drama clubs where she develops and writes scripts especially for the needs and talents of each group.
For Theatre tots Laura teaches in schools and nurseries and leads our London Story seekers sessions. She is also the face behind in the wig in our touring show 'Excuse me Mrs Pardon'.
Laura’s secret ambition is to join the circus and she is currently working towards that dream by learning to Trapeze.

I'm Laura and I have been with Theatre Tots since 2013 teaching in schools and nurseries around London not to mention donning a princess crown for parties too whenever I get the chance! I graduated from Exeter University in 2012 with a drama degree where I focused mainly on Theatre in Education. However, alongside working for Theatre Tots I am also a private Tutor not to mention a full time MA acting student at Arts Educational in West London. Acting is the big dream, although I'll never truly be able to shake off the silliness, fun and surprise that working with children brings.

Waterloo Theatre tots licence holder and teacher

As a primary school teacher, Dramatherapist and mum, I am convinced by the power of both story making and sensory play in helping children learn as well as develop a sense of who they are in the world and how they fit in to it. Working with Theatre Tots has been the perfect place to bring these interests together. In our Waterloo Theatre Tots class we spend lots of time using every day fabrics and objects to create the textures, sounds, shapes and even smells of the landscapes in our stories. We then take the lead from the little ones as they explore planets, rockets, deserts, oceans or whatever other landscape a story might one day take us to.

Hello, I’m Natalie. I run Theatre Tots in Cheadle and the surrounding area.
I trained in drama and media performance at the University of Salford and The Acting Studio, Manchester. Since graduating in 2000 I have acted in various projects in television, theatre and radio. Television credits include ‘Heartbeat’,’ Emmerdale’,’ Bodies’,’ Holby City’ and ‘The Quest’. I have worked extensively with Hull Truck Theatre, most recently playing three contrasting characters in their 2008/09 comedy Christmas production, ‘A Kick in the Baubles’. I have also done a series of comedy voice overs and jingles for various radio stations and more recently, animated commercials for ’3’ mobile phones.
My sons Herbie and Sonny have inspired me to begin working with young children. I have always loved children but since having my own sons I really appreciate how much fun they can be and how individual they are. Its wonderful to see where their imaginations can take them when they’re given the chance to experiment and come up with ideas.
In my Theatre Tots classes I aim to create a fun environment where children can really let their imaginations and personalities come alive. I look forward to seeing you soon!

I have had over 10 years experience as a performing arts practitioner and performer and have had the pleasure of working with very well respected companies including DanceXchange, English National Ballet, Laban and Artis and have choreographed and devised work that has been performed at Symphony Hall Birmingham, The Patrick Centre and the Royal Albert Hall. I now have a son called Ed who keeps me very busy in between my teaching life.

I find it incredibly rewarding to motivate and enthuse others to achieve and learn through arts activity. Children gain the life skills of communication, confidence, problem solving, team building and the obvious benefits of physical exercise. I believe that the performing arts should be accessible to everybody who has an interest no matter their age or ability.

I believe drama is important for little people because harnesses their natural ability to role play, dance and sing and uses it to explore and understand the world. Child led play for example releases chemicals in the brain that make them feel good and worthwhile as human beings – this can lead to them being confident and contributing adults.

My future ambition is to own a farm with a big bed and breakfast. Either that or get a part in ‘The Archers’ and pretend to do it!! (this could possibly be easier?!!)
